Dharmesh Sheth shares what Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s agent told him after Rangers talks held

Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s representative says they have held “positive talks” with Rangers after a meeting with the Scottish giants on Saturday.

That’s according to Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth, writing via his personal Twitter profile on Saturday afternoon.

Sheth wrote: “Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s representative tells Sky Sports News they held “positive talks” with Rangers today over vacant managerial position. Footage shows van Bronckhorst leaving London earlier.”

The ex-Ibrox star has emerged as the clear favourite amongst the Rangers faithful.

The Dutchman played for Rangers between 1998-2001, making over 100 appearances.

In 2015, he started his managerial career in his homeland at Eredivisie outfit Feyenoord, winning the title in 2017, the club’s first in 18 years.

After leaving in 2019, he joined Chinese Super League side Guangzhou R&F in January 2020 before leaving 11 months later.

Now, the 46-year-old looks to be closing in on a move back to Ibrox.

Nothing appears to be set in stone, but all appears to be well on van Bronckhorst’s side, judging from comments made by his representative.

It remains to be seen whether there will be further rounds of talks, but one would imagine that the important elements like transfer budget and the overall vision for the club have been discussed, as well as van Bronckhorst’s financial demands.

Rangers well may decide to interview other candidates and whittle them down from there, but as it stands, van Bronckhorst is the clear frontrunner.
