Rangers shortlist for new manager down to three names
Rangers have narrowed their shortlist down to three names with Giovanni van Bronckhorst among them, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The former Gers midfielder will be talking with the club in the coming days with a view to becoming their next manager.
He is understood to be keen on the job, but will have to be viewed as a better fit than the other two managers to sit on the Ibrox hot seat.
Via his personal Twitter account, the Sky Sports Italy journalist said, “Rangers have shortlist ready to replace Gerrard. The board will start official contacts during the weekend – talk scheduled also with Gio van Bronckhorst.
“Former Rangers and Barça player, he’s in the list together with other 2 managers. He’s interested in the job.”
Get this done
Rangers had very little time to plan for a new manager after Steven Gerrard’s unceremonious departure.
When the Newcastle links were there, he played them down, but Villa seemed to be a role that interested him and within a matter of days, he was gone.
Thankfully, some of his coaches are still going to stay on so it will be a relief for the new manager to learn the ropes.

It’s good to see that given the plethora of names linked so far, Rangers have narrowed it down to three.
Van Bronckhorst, currently, appears to be the overwhelming favourite, but that could change based on the talks that take place.
He would be a good fit for the club and hopefully could help take them to the next level, despite the financial challenges.
In other Rangers news, the club have made initial contact with a fan favourite to replace Gerrard and it’s believed he’s very keen on the job.
