Rangers make initial contact with Giovanni van Bronckhorst

Rangers have reportedly made an initial contact with former Feyenoord manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst to take over at the helm.

According to the Scottish Sun, the former Gers midfielder is the club’s top choice to replace Steven Gerrard at Ibrox.

The report states that van Bronckhorst, who signed for the Glasgow outfit by Dick Advocaat in 1998, was a fan favourite and guided them to two league titles.

Best option there?

There was some scepticism at the appointment of Gerrard as well that he was unproven and not the right one to get Rangers back to the summit.

It seemed that he was hired purely based on his name recognition as a player rather than what he brought to the table as a manager.

However, he’s proven all his doubters wrong, and we believe that van Bronckhorst could have a similar impact.

Much like Gerrard, he’s enjoyed an illustrious playing career and has also won trophies before his seemingly imminent switch to the Ibrox.

He would come to the club with the experience of winning big matches and could be the right man to take over from what the now Aston Villa manager started.

The fact that the club want a replacement before their next league game suggests that unless something drastic happens, van Bronckhorst is likely to be appointed.
