Kevin Anderson makes bold prediction on Steven Gerrard after sealing Rangers exit

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has left the club to join Aston Villa as their next manager.

The Gers have confirmed the news on their official website today. The club have thanked him for playing a key role in the significant growth at the club.

According to Sky Sports, a compensation package of between £3m-£4m has been agreed between the two clubs. Gerrard’s assistant Gary McAllister will also join him at Villa.

BBC journalist, Kevin Anderson has suggested that it’s a “bad move” for Gerrard. He wrote:

“Not sure he’ll get the time and space needed to make it work there. Lower-mid Prem jobs are all thankless tasks. A bad move for him imo, but overall very sad to see him go.”

In a separate tweet, he has predicted that Gerrard will end up for either Fulham or Norwich in a couple of years.

He added: “Fully expect to see him at a Fulham or a Norwich, yo-yoing between the Prem and Championship in a couple of years. Villa isn’t a step that going to take him forward I don’t think.”

Bold prediction

Gerrard has done a terrific job for Rangers. He took charge of the Ibrox club when they were miles behind Celtic, and made them league champions within three years.

He has transformed the squad and leaves the new manager a solid group of players to work with.

It is this quality that has earned him the job at Villa. With proper financial backing, he can do wonders at the club.

Also, the expectation at Villa is not high compared to what he experienced at Rangers. There is no pressure on him to deliver a title or take the club to European football. He will be given time to put a system in place.

Anderson feels otherwise. He thinks that lower Premier League clubs don’t have the patience to build a solid foundation.

Gerrard has taken a big gamble here. It could turn out to be a bad move for him if the results do not go in his favour.
