Ally McCoist discusses Frank Lampard joining Rangers
Ally McCoist believes that Rangers would be interested in appointing Frank Lampard to replace Steven Gerrard.
Speaking live on Sky Sports [via the Scottish Sun] after they announced that Lampard wouldn’t be joining Norwich City, McCoist revealed why he would love to see the 43-year-old at Ibrox.
The Rangers legend believes that Lampard is very similar to Gerrard and would be able to build on the foundations that the former Liverpool man has put in place.

He said: “But I just heard – you were ruling Frank Lampard out of the Norwich job, is that correct?
“He is another one who would interest us. He’s very similar to Steven Gerrard, actually. Would come up, and the great thing about it, he would grab the imagination of the Rangers support.
“He has managed a very good level.”
Lampard the ideal candidate?
Lampard has managed in the Premier League and the Championship, and in his short managerial career, he has led Derby County to the Championship play-off final.
He also sealed a top-four spot with Chelsea before the Blues sacked him last year.
So, he has a lot of top-level experience. In fact, he has even more than Gerrard ever had.

So, could he be the man to lead the Gers into their next era?
Well, you would certainly think that he has a chance of getting the job after pulling out of talks with the Canaries.
The 43-year-old has a good enough CV to be worthy of a shout, and McCoist seems to believe that the Bears will be keen on the Chelsea legend.
Therefore, it will be intriguing to see if anything happens with Lampard or if the Bears decide to look elsewhere as they look to make a swift appointment and move on from the Gerrard era.
