Sky Sports journo shares what van Bronckhorst told him to suggest he may want Rangers job
Sky Sports journalist Andrew Dickson expects Giovanni van Bronckhorst to be keen on the new managerial vacancy Rangers based on an interview he had with him in the summer.
Van Bronkhorst, 46, has emerged as a contender to replace Steven Gerrard at Ibrox after he was confirmed as the new Aston Villa manager on Thursday.
According to Vital Rangers, the Dutchman, who played for the Light Blues, wants to be Gerrard’s successor and Dickson feels that is likely to be the case after a conversation he had with him.

Writing via his personal Twitter account on Wednesday, the journalist said: “Lots of talk about who might replace Gerrard, should he complete a move to Villa.
“Having spoken to him in detail at the start of the season, I’d be exceptionally surprised if Giovanni can Bronckhorst isn’t keen and he ticks a lot of boxes in terms of what Rangers would look for.”
Yes, please
Van Bronckhorst is emerging as the man that most Rangers fans are talking about.
Although it’s still very fresh, Gerrard is now in our past and the club has to set their sights on what happens next at Ibrox.
Do we try to do a similar hire? By that we mean should the Light Blues go out and hire a big-name who’s a relatively inexperienced manager?
Or should they go for a more measured approach, which sees them go for someone with a bit of experience and also knows the Scottish game?

Another move would be to hire a former player, which is what a lot of clubs have done recently and Gio would tick that box.
However, van Bronckhorst is a lot more than just a former Bear.
He’s a title-winner in the Netherlands, taking Feyenoord to their first league title in 18 years a few years ago.
The Dutchman, who also played for Barcelona and Arsenal, is currently available after a spell in China was cut short amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
All signs are pointing towards Gio right now. And we’re fully on board with that.
In other Rangers news, an official partner of the Gers has spoken out about the Russell Martin speculation.
