Derek McInnes in mix to be new Rangers manager
Former Rangers midfielder Derek McInnes is in the mix to be Steven Gerrard’s successor at Ibrox, according to Sky Sports.
The report suggests that he could be unpopular among the Gers fans as he turned down the offer of becoming manager in 2017.
McInnes, who last managed Aberdeen, left the role by mutual consent in March this year and has been unemployed since then.

Bad news
The former Scotland international may be once on the books of Rangers, but he seems to have strained relations with most fans after turning down the role.
Despite winning two major trophies in his career – the Scottish first division and more recently the Scottish League Cup – he may be a hard sell for the Ibrox faithful.
At a club like Rangers, especially when they’re defending their title, the fans would want a serial winner and he clearly doesn’t fit the bill.

It’s important that Ross Wilson does not mess up this appointment as it could shape the short-term future for the Glasgow giants.
As one would expect there are plenty of names in the mix, but currently, McInnes appears to be one of the favourites.
We’re hoping that it’s a false dawn and the club goes for a better manager as Rangers are a massive side and shouldn’t have problems attracting the best.
This side is good enough to win title number 56 and go on a run in the Europa League, so it’s important to get a manager with the experience of managing in the competition or maybe even the Champions League.
