Steven Gerrard’s Rangers release clause up to £4.5million amid Aston Villa links

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has a release clause of up £4.5million in his Ibrox contract, according to The 4th Official.

The reliable football website, which has regularly shared accurate information on the Light Blues, provided the information on their Twitter account amid the Gers boss’ links to Aston Villa.

With the rumours linking Gerrard to the Premier League club gathering pace by the minute, it appears a move could really be on the cards, and The 4th Official has gotten in contact with their sources at Rangers.

Rangers

They said: “The release clause for any club wanting Gerrard before his contract is up is £4.5m.

“If you factor in the money that Aston Villa will have to spend to get Michael Beale and Gary McAllister on board as well, the figure goes up substantially.”

Fair deal?

Rangers could be pocketing big money if Villa agree to pay the release clauses of Gerrard and his backroom staff, and while fans would be gutted to see him leave midway through the campaign, getting some cash in exchange would not be too bad.

The Premiership giants could do with some financial boost right now, and while it could come from an unlikeliest of sources, it is a welcome development.

At the end of the day, nobody can stop Gerrard from leaving if he wants to, especially considering billionaire-owned Villa would not likely hesitate to pay for his exit.

Rangers

He wants to become a Premier League manager, and with a club known for their investments and ambitions keen to give him a chance, it is only logical for him to want to move on.

Emotions are not involved here as Gerrard does not bleed light blue.

He is only an employer who wants the best for his career and growth, and it could be time to move on after more than three years at Rangers.
