Steven Gerrard spotted with Rangers coach in London amid Aston Villa link

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has been ‘spotted’ in London as speculation is rife on his future.

According to Birmingham Live journalist Ashley Preece, Gerrard is all set to join Villa along with his backroom staff.

He has claimed that an announcement is expected in the next 24-48 hours, if not sooner.

Rangers

Villa have approached the Gers boss following the sacking of Dean Smith. It has been claimed that Gerrard is interested in joining them.

According to Twitter handle, Ibrox Central, Gerrard has been spotted arriving at a train station in London, where Villa chief executive Christian Purslow is based.

Rangers coach Michael Beale is also currently in London that adds more fire to the fuel over his future at the club as well.

He took to Instagram last night to post a picture in London, with a caption: “I love this city.”

Big blow

Losing Gerrard and his backroom staff mid-way through the season will be a massive blow for the club.

The Gers are aiming to win their SPFL title for the second season in a row. Gerrard took charge of a broken club and made them title winners within four seasons.

He delivered what was asked of him. He stopped Celtic from winning their 10th title in a row, and will forever remain a hero among the fans.

Given his previous relationship with Villa CEO Purslow, it became quite clear that he could be ready to jump the ship. It is now a question of when.

Rangers, in return, will get a sizeable compensation from the English club.

Although nothing has been confirmed yet, it looks like Gerrard will be joining Villa in the next few days.

This came out of the blue, but it appears that the job was too tempting for Gerrard to turn it down.

In other Rangers news, Jason Cundy has hit out at an Aston Villa fan for what he said about the Gers.
