Simon Jordan suggests ‘final twist’ in Aston Villa quest to snare Rangers boss Steven Gerrard
Simon Jordan suggests there will be one final twist in Aston Villa’s quest to snare Steven Gerrard from Rangers.
In news that has dominated headlines recently, the Premier League outfit have made moves to appoint Gerrard as successor to Dean Smith, who was sacked as Villa boss on Sunday.
However, speaking via talkSPORT [10/11/21], ex-Crystal Palace owner Jordan believes nothing is cut and dry yet.

“I’ve just got a sneaky suspicion that this will be a little bit of puffer stuff and he won’t end up at Villa,” Jordan said. “I’ve got a sneaky suspicion there’s a lot less in this than we think there is.”
Jim White later said: “It’s our understanding that this is now moving, that Aston Villa will seek permission from Rangers to get access to speak to Steven Gerrard with a view to getting him down to Birmingham to appointing him as their next manager.
“But Simon, you still think the final twist in the tail will be that he stays at Rangers?

Hope?
All the signs are that Gerrard is seriously contemplating a move down south to join the Midlands giants.
If there wasn’t a shred of thought going into it, then he would surely have publicly distanced himself from the job.
Therefore, the general assumption in the media has been that this is a foregone conclusion now as Villa ramp up their pursuit.
However, Jordan predicts Gerrard to snub Villa and remain at Ibrox.
That will surely be music to the ears of Rangers supporters who are desperate for Gerrard to stay and at least see out the rest of the 2021/22 campaign and secure consecutive Premiership titles.
This could be one that rumbles on for the rest of the week, possibly heading into the next one.
In other Rangers news, Ally McCoist wants this 50-year-old English boss at the Gers if Gerrard leaves in a spectacular turn of events.
