Rangers star Steven Davis hints at international retirement
Rangers midfielder Steven Davis has hinted that he could consider hanging up his boots for Northern Ireland after their clash with Italy on Monday.
Davis has enjoyed a stellar career for his country. He is the most capped British international of all time, managing 130 appearances for Northern Ireland.
Ian Baraclough’s team will face Lithuania and Italy in the forthcoming international break.

Northern Ireland end their World Cup qualification campaign against Italy on Monday at Windsor Park.
They won’t qualify for the World Cup, and Davis has suggested that although he is not thinking of signing off from international duty, he will sit back and reflect on how he feels physically.
“At the end of every campaign you sit back, reflect and see how you feel physically and how you see things progressing,” said Davis, as quoted by the Daily Record.
“That will be the same situation this time, I will just reflect on things and we will go from there.”
Boost for Rangers?
The 36-year-old has given his best years for his country, and now he should consider hanging up his boots for good.
He is nearing the end of his career and should look after himself physically if he wants to prolong his career at the club level.

Even at this age, he is still a key player for Rangers. He has made 18 appearances for the Gers this season, and Steven Gerrard has used him wisely.
He was rested in recent games against Aberdeen and Ross County, but he is expected to play a big role this term with Rangers aiming to win back-to-back league titles.
Davis’ Ibrox teammate Allan McGregor hung up his gloves in 2019 for his country citing the need to look after himself physically. It’s time for Davis to do the same as well.
On Monday, the game against Italy could be his last for his country.
