Brian Laudrup can’t see Gerrard leaving Rangers
Former Rangers man Brian Laudrup can’t see Steven Gerrard moving to Aston Villa.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Laudrup thinks that the 41-year-old still has plenty to achieve with the Bears with BBC Sport reporting he’s wanted at Villa.
He also believes that managers who arrive midway through a season struggle to change too much, so he questions whether a move to Villa Park would benefit Gerrard.

He said: “I see a number of issues. If you look at the best managers in the world, it is quite rare for them to go to a team midway through the season.
“My brother, Michael, always said if you wanted to achieve something then you couldn’t do it by coming into a job halfway through a season. You can’t change that much, you don’t have a pre-season to prepare things and you probably can’t buy many of the players you want.
“I’d be surprised if Gerrard went to Aston Villa at this point. I’d hope he would stay at Ibrox for the rest of this season.
“There are so many things still in front of him for the next six or seven months. I’d like to think his focus will stay at Ibrox over that period.”
Laudrup on the money.
Laudrup makes some really interesting points here and you would think that Gerrard might think he still has unfinished business at Ibrox.
Yes, he won the league, but he hasn’t won any other domestic trophy for the Bears and also failed to reach the group stages of the Champions League.
So, there are plenty of things that he can still do with the Gers.

The point about not being able to change much makes sense, but managers can change things and get the best out of players who are at the current club even when they join midway through the season.
If this wasn’t the case then there would be no point in changing a manager midway through a season.
The January transfer window also isn’t that far away, so if Gerrard were to leave, he would be able to make changes soon.
However, we would hope that Gerrard realises that he still has a lot of unfinished business at Ibrox.
