Ange Postecoglou reacts as Aston Villa close in on Rangers boss Steven Gerrard
Ange Postecoglou is determined to stop Celtic being distracted by reports that Steven Gerrard is set to leave Rangers.
According to a huge update by talkSPORT on Wednesday, Aston Villa are now confident of hiring Gerrard as their replacement for Dean Smith by the end of this week.
It means that when Rangers play Hibernian in their next match on November 21, someone else is likely to be in charge.

However, Celtic boss Postecoglou has told the media he’s only focused on what’s happening in Parkhead right now.
“I’ve been really laser-focused on here and I’ll continue to be. It hasn’t been too difficult to do that as well,” said the Australian, as shown on PLZ Soccer’s Twitter account.
“I’m just making everyone aware we can’t be distracted by anyone or anything because we’re trying to build something here.
“And when you’re trying to build something, you can’t afford to be looking over your fence at what other people are doing.
“We’ve got to make our house, make it nice and beautiful and then see how it stacks up against the rest of the neighbourhood.”
It’s happening
It sure seems as though Gerrard is going to be on his way to Aston Villa.
It’s escalated very quickly since Sunday when the Gers boss was first linked with replacing Smith not long after he was sacked by the Premier League club.
If this does go through – and it does seem likely – Rangers are in trouble.
We’ve had a mixed bag of results and performances at the start of this season.
Although we’re top of the league and in a good position to play post-Christmas football in Europe, something just hasn’t been quite right.
In the summer, the club perhaps made some poor decisions and we all saw the financial figures last week with the Gers needing to make up £7.5million before the end of the season before they need to take out a loan.
We’re in a worse state now than we were last season and we’re now set to lose the best manager we’ve had in a long time.
Who’ll replace Gerrard? We have no idea yet but we doubt that it will be someone better than the potential next Aston Villa manager.
In other Rangers news, Jason Cundy has hit out at an Aston Villa fan for what he said about the Gers.
