Darren Ambrose delivers verdict on Steven Gerrard Rangers future

Darren Ambrose believes that Steven Gerrard will leave Rangers to take up the vacant managerial position at Aston Villa.

The Premier League side recently parted ways with manager Dean Smith and will be looking for a replacement before domestic football resumes in a couple of weeks.

According to The Telegraph, Gerrard is being considered as one of the options to take over at the helm.

Speaking on talkSPORT about the possibility of him leaving Ibrox to move to Villa Park, Ambrose said, “I think he’d leave Rangers. He’s done a fantastic job there. Won them the league.

“I do think this [Aston Villa] is a bigger job, maybe a stepping stone to where he wants to end up as a manager. He seems like an ambitious manager to me.”

Good possibility

Whenever any job in the Premier League is vacant, Gerrard’s name has to be thrown in the mix for it.

He’s done everything he can to create the right impressions and make the kind of noise that would put some of the big clubs’ owners at attention.

While a move to a top six Premier League side may be too early, in case he wants to manage them in the future, this could be the stepping stone for him.

Rangers

He would surely like to try managing Liverpool one day and the owners are not likely to trust him if he doesn’t have the kind of experience in that division.

It would be hard for Rangers fans, as he’s undoubtedly well loved by the Ibrox faithful.

However, he is ambitious like Ambrose said, and he could possibly be tempted to jump ship and return to England.
