Daily Record report suggests financial reason behind Rangers transfer decision
The Daily Record have suggested that Rangers didn’t sell any of their star players in the summer because of a potential major windfall next season.
They believe that because of the huge financial benefits that come from qualifying for the Champions League group stages, the Gers decided to cling onto their players in an attempt to qualify for it this season.
This new report follows Rangers releasing their latest financial results, and the Bears made a huge loss that would have been covered if they had qualified for the Champions League group stages.

They said: “A £40m windfall next season would more than wipe out the losses announced, and the board must be desperate to get the league flag in the bag for that reason alone.
“And that could have been behind the decision not to cash in on any prize assets during the summer as they opted to speculate to accumulate.”
Interesting stuff.
These are some interesting claims, and you would think they could be pretty close to the truth.
The Gers resisted any and all transfer offers for all of their star players, and the transfer window was open while they were still trying to qualify for the Champions League group stages.
So, were they taking a big gamble on trying to make it into the critical part of the Champions League?

Well, that remains to be seen, but you could argue that it looks that way, especially after these latest financial results were revealed.
They don’t make for good reading for the Bears, and you would think that, finally, one of the top players from Steven Gerrard’s squad might have to be sold to generate much-needed finances.
This is a really interesting report from the Daily Record, and they shed some light on some of the important issues around the Bears’ finances.
