Steven Gerrard raves about Rangers striker Fashion Sakala

Steven Gerrard has showered heaps of praise on Rangers striker Fashion Sakala, saying he is a really exciting player to watch.

The Scottish champions will face Brondby in a must-win Europa League clash tonight away from Ibrox. The Gers won 2-0 against them in their previous Europa League game last month.

Gerrard has suggested that Sakala has taken time to settle down at his new club, but he is starting to show his true potential.

Rangers

Sakala scored his first hat-trick for the club as Rangers won 6-1 against Motherwell in their previous game last weekend.

Gerrard has hailed him as an “incredible” human being whose attitude and energy has lifted the whole place.

The Gers boss has also added that they have plenty of players in their forward department, but Sakala will be given plenty of opportunities this season.

“He’s an incredible human being. The way he has come into the club, his smile and demeanour, his attitude and energy, has lifted the whole place,” said Gerrard, as quoted by the Glasgow Evening Times.

“The signs are he is really starting to find his feet here at Rangers. He is a really exciting one for everyone to watch moving forward.

“There will be plenty of opportunities for Fashion, not just in Europe but domestically as well. We are really starting to see his strengths, his consistency from a training point of view.”

Consistency

It’s an open secret that Rangers have struggled to maintain the high standards they had set for themselves last season.

The Gers are making silly errors at the back, with individual mistakes and poor decision-making costing them valuable points already.

However, it is their blunt attack that has come under criticism recently. Alfredo Morelos has been below par so far, while collectively Rangers have lacked the cutting edge that made them such an attractive side last term.

Sakala’s brilliant performance against Motherwell has given Rangers a new sense of belief. It seems Gerrard is heavily impressed with his application in training.

He is bubbling with confidence at the moment, and it will be interesting to see if Gerrard starts with him against Brondby.
