Steven Gerrard provides update on Rangers star Ryan Jack

Steven Gerrard has confirmed Rangers midfielder Ryan Jack could be involved against Ross County at the weekend.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of the Gers’ Europa League game against Brondby, the 41-year-old provided a positive update on the 29-year-old [Daily Record].

Jack has been injured since February and has missed a whopping 37 matches; however, it appears as if Gerrard is about to get a key player back at just the right time.

He said: “Ryan (Jack) is training away. He’ll have an outside chance of being involved at the weekend, depending on how this game goes.

“He’s been back in full training for a couple of weeks. The international break is super important in terms of getting work in his legs and maybe trying to get a game behind closed doors for him.”

Big news for the Gers.

Gerrard has described Jack as a “standard setter”, so it is very clear that he rates him highly [Glasgow Live].

He also must have an influence on his teammates, and you could argue that in some games this season, the Bears’ standards have slipped, so his return should help that.

The race at the top of the SPFL is heating up, so the quicker he is back, the better, really.

Even if he doesn’t play on Sunday, we would expect to see him involved after the international break, so things are looking up for both Jack and the Gers, and we can’t wait to see him back on the field.

The Scottish international was a vital player until he suffered his injury last season, and his return will put more pressure on the current midfielders to deliver as he won’t want to be sitting on the bench.
