Micah Richards mocks Jamie Carragher over Rangers-Maurice Edu blunder
Jamie Carragher was caught looking up ex-Rangers star Maurice Edu ahead of working alongside him for CBS’ Champions League coverage on Wednesday night.
Edu, 35, played for the Gers between 2008 and 2012 and also spent three years on the books at Stoke City.
However, Carragher was clearly unfamiliar with Edu and left his research to the last minute.

He was spotted by fellow pundit Micard Richards, who took pictures of Carragher looking up Edu on Wikipedia.
Speaking on CBS Sports on their coverage of the Champions League, Carragher admitted that he had to look up Edu on the internet.
Carragher said: “Yeah I Googled him before I came in – did you get me on camera?”
Richards took pictures of Carragher googling Edu on a tablet and when those images were shown, the ex-Manchester City player, as well as Edu, burst into laughter.
Edu joked that Carragher “came prepared” while host Kate Abdo told the Liverpool legend he could have at least done it before he came and sat down next to him.
Richards then asked Carragher who Edu played for.
He hesitated for a moment before saying, “Rangers” and that prompted even more laughter from the infectious Richards.
Richards then added: “I thought, ‘what is going on here?’ and I saw his name and was like, ‘no, surely not?’.
“So I zoomed in to make sure I got the perfect picture.”
Brilliant
It’s fair enough that Carragher isn’t 100 per cent familiar with Edu – but to look him up on Wikipedia while basically right next to him is hilarious.
Richards really is great to watch on television.
Not only is he a very informative and balanced pundit but he’s also great entertainment and seems to get along well with every person he’s on-air with – even Roy Keane.
Carragher probably never came across Edu much in his career – if at all – so you can understand why he wasn’t familiar with the ex-USA international.
However, Edu is a former player who won titles in Scotland, played in the Premier League, played in the Champions League and played at the World Cup.
Carragher may have needed to brush up on his knowledge but next time he might want to ensure that Richards isn’t lurking over his shoulder when he does so.
In other Rangers news, the Gers would offer this Premier League player all the game-time he needs if they sign him in January.
