Hibernian CEO Ben Kensell: Rangers source of COVID breach accusations at Easter Road

Hibernian CEO Ben Kensell has pointed the finger at a Rangers fan who blew the whistle on the Edinburgh club’s alleged failure to comply with COVID regulations.

As reported by the Scottish Sun, Jack Ross’ side were spotted flouting COVID rules at the Highland Hotel in Inverness.

Hibs have had to twice postpone their clash against Ross County due to COVID issues and Kensell has now aimed a sly dig at the Gers after the complaint was raised about their alleged failure to comply with rules.

“Firstly I’d look at the source of the information and it unsurprisingly comes from the blue side of Glasgow, which is a point of speculation in itself,” Kensell told Sky Sports.

“I’m confident in our processes and having investigated the claims, I trust our staff and players to carry out what’s required, to mitigate the spread of COVID. They’re aware of their responsibilities.

“What I don’t want to do is focus on a comment from someone who is completely unrelated and is just looking to create trouble. We’re talking about a much wider and larger issue that’s affecting the whole country here.

“And we’ve got one individual that just wants to create headlines. I find it disappointing at the very best.”

Awkward

It’s a weird response from Kensell.

Instead of appreciating the concerns of a member of the public, he’s used it as a chance to take a swipe at Rangers.

It was such a weird dig too. He couldn’t even be bothered to mention the name of the league leaders and reigning Scottish champions.

In all honesty, the Hibs CEO needs to grow up.

Yet again, everyone is against us.

It’s as though it was the club’s fault that an allegation was made when in reality, we’re the biggest club in Scotland and there are going to be more Rangers supporters out there than Celtic, Aberdeen, Inverness or whatever else.

The odds were that if someone is a football fan in Scotland, there’s a good chance they’ll be a Bear.

In other Rangers news, a journalist has shared what the Gers would offer to sign this Premier League midfielder in January.
