SPFL rule could force Celtic to change their mind on Rangers decision
Celtic might be forced to back down on banning Rangers fans from attending the Old Firm due to an SPFL rule.
The Glasgow Evening Times report that clubs have to make space in their stadium for away supporters because the Red Zone requirement has now been binned.
The Scottish Sun reported on Monday that the Bhoys were planning to ban any Gers fans from attending after the same happened to them at Ibrox earlier this season.

However, it appears as if they could be forced into an embarrassing U-turn.
SPFL rule I27 reads: “The Home club must make provision for the admission of such reasonable number of visiting supporters at every home League Match and Play-Off Match as may be agreed in advance with the Visiting Club and, in the event of their being unable to agree such number not later than 14 days prior to the date of the League Match or Play-Off Match in question, the number of visiting supporters allowed shall be determined by the Board whose decision shall be final and binding.”
Celtic might have to change their mind.
The reason the Bears were allowed to ban Celtic fans from attending the first Old Firm of the season was because of Covid restrictions.
However, it appears as if the Bhoys might have to change their mind and allow Gers fans into Celtic Park for the second Old Firm of the season.
In fact, unless Celtic want to defy the SPFL and risk huge sanctions, they will probably have to change their mind on this very quickly.

To be honest, this seems like a petty dig at the Gers for what happened earlier in the season, even though that was more related to health and safety.
Now that these restrictions are gone, the Bhoys can’t just ban Gers fans from attending to get revenge or to create an unfair advantage.
Therefore, you can probably expect a U-turn from Celtic in the near future on this ridiculous ticket idea.
In other Rangers news, the club are looking at signing a teenage forward in January.
