Barry Ferguson: Rangers will want to sign Billy Gilmour in January
Barry Ferguson claims that Rangers will surely want to sign Billy Gilmour in January should Chelsea cut his loan short.
The Scotland international is currently on loan at bottom Premier League side Norwich City, where he’s struggling to find game time.
September was the last time Daniel Farke handed him an appearance for the Canaries and the Blues could opt to terminate his loan in January.

When asked about recalling Gilmour, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel said, “We will make the decision in January when a decision has to be made and not now.” [Metro].
Speaking about the possibility of Rangers re-signing him on loan in January, Ferguson said on the Go Radio Football Show, “Yeah, I don’t see why not. I’m sure Rangers would be interested in him. It is worrying. You know what I think of Billy Gilmour – I think he’s a fantastic young footballer.
“I’m sure Billy’s frustrated but also Chelsea. That’s the reason why they sent him out, to get more game time, and that’s not been happening over the last three or four weeks.”
Ibrox second coming?
Gilmour is Rangers through and through, having been at the club since he was an eight-year-old.
When Chelsea came calling in 2017, there was little he could do, and has since gone from strength to strength.
In such little time, he’s become a full Scotland international and has amassed several senior appearances for the Blues.

It comes as a shame that Norwich, despite all of their struggles, are not using Gilmour.
The 20-year-old, who has been labelled “phenomenal” by Michael Stewart [The Scottish Sun], brings something different to that side and adds a bit of bite to what is a pretty tame midfield.
Steven Gerrard would certainly love having a player like Gilmour in his side and would possibly be a regular starter for him.
The young midfielder knows the Scottish game well and is also used to playing with a number of the Gers contingent due to their time spent with the national team.
