Stephen Craigan drools over Rangers midfielder Steven Davis

Stephen Craigan has showered praise on Rangers midfielder Steven Davis after the Gers won their Premiership clash against Motherwell on Sunday.

Rangers came from behind to win 6-1 at Fir Park against Motherwell to move four points at the top of the league table.

Fashion Sakala scored his first hat-trick for the Ibrox club, while the likes of James Tavernier, Glen Kamara and Kemar Roofe were also on target.

Craigan has suggested that while Sakala will grab the headline for scoring a hat-trick, it’s Davis who has impressed him heavily. He has hailed the veteran midfielder as a “joy to watch.”

“Fashion Sakala will get the headlines, strikers always do especially when they score a hat-trick, but the performance of Steven Davis has been a joy to watch,” said Craigan on BBC Sport.

Impressive

Earlier this week, Barry Ferguson wrote in his column that Steven Gerrard should use Davis wisely, as he is that type of player who can unlock defences.

Gerrard said ahead of the match that Davis wasn’t included against Aberdeen because he wasn’t in a proper frame of mind to play following the death of club legend Walter Smith.

Davis has been brilliant throughout the game, and Craigan is absolutely spot on about the midfielder. With crucial games coming up, Gerrard will need his services.

The key for Rangers here is to maintain consistency. They need to win a few games at a stretch and carry forward the momentum.

Gerrard will be pleased by the response from his side and also the manner of the victory. This is arguably Rangers’ best performance of the season, but they are plenty of scope for improvements.

In other Rangers news, Darrell Currie was silenced by this Ibrox ace after he tweeted during the game.
