Chris Sutton destroys John Beaton in Rangers draw v Aberdeen, stunned by Ally McCoist

Chris Sutton has destroyed John Beaton for his decision to hand Rangers a penalty against Aberdeen on Wednesday evening.

Ally McCoist was poking the bear by joking about the decision at Ibrox, insisting that having seen replays, he isn’t sure.

Sutton labelled Beaton “incompetent” and believes it was the worst decision he has ever seen in Scottish football.

McCoist started the debate on BT Sports and he didn’t make it very clear as to what his actual view was on the decision.

“One thing you’ll get from me is 100% honesty, unlike my sidekick over here,” he joked.

“I watched it at the game live, and I thought it was an absolute stonewall penalty. Having had the benefit of watching it numerous times – I’m not so sure.”

Sutton responded to that and couldn’t believe what he was listening to as he sat smiling at McCoist’s verdict.

“Oh wow,” he said.

“Are you serious? Come on. What was John Beaton seeing there? That is possibly the worst decision I’ve ever seen in Scotland – he is totally incompetent.”

Here we go.

We simply love watching Sutton have a little cry over Rangers.

Having said that, we have to agree that it was never a penalty – but that is the luck you sometimes deserve and earn in games.

Aberdeen were handed a two-goal lead by the Bears defence in this one, but the squad came together and didn’t stop pushing for a huge win that didn’t come in the end.

Steven Gerrard was fuming after the game, and likely will remain that way until his side gets another go at Motherwell on Sunday.

This isn’t the first time Beaton has been at the heart of the controversy in the Scottish Premiership, we all remember that away game at Livingston last season.
