Ally McCoist: Area around Ibrox must be changed to Smithsville

Ally McCoist has paid a touching tribute to Rangers legend Walter Smith live on BT Sports on Friday evening.

After being quizzed by Darrell Currie, McCoist insisted that the area around Ibrox needs to be changed to Smithsville.

It would be something that no one would disagree with, with changes surely expected at the stadium sooner rather than later.

Speaking live on BT Sports’ Scottish Football Extra, McCoist insisted that a major change needs to be made around Ibrox.

“I’d change the area around Ibrox to Smithsville,” he joked.

“It starts here, it has to get changed. Listen, he’ll be up there laughing his head off because I know he was very proud of his boys.”

Legend.

Wow, we are loving every single one of these glowing tributes.

If you watch anything on Friday evening, it would be Scottish Football Extra on BT Sports with McCoist.

The touching tributes from the likes of Derek McInnes, David Weir and Charlie Adam were all brilliant, and showed every side of Smith and his work.

McCoist is right, something needs to be changed at Ibrox.

Whether that will be a stand or anything such as that, plans should be in place before the end of the season to honour not just the footballing man he was, but the fantastic human being.

McCoist being able to look back on all these memories and laugh was wonderful, and it shows just what legacy Smith left on all those who he has left behind.
