Richard Foster baffled by Rangers man Jon McLaughlin
Richard Foster was left absolutely baffled by Rangers goalkeeper Jon McLaughlin in the 2-2 draw with Aberdeen at Ibrox on Wednesday night.
The goalkeeper attempted to take a goal kick and ended up playing it backwards to Connor Goldson, who tried to move the ball onto John Lundstram.
Aberdeen nipped in and scored the opening goal, it was a total shambles from the Gers’ point of view, and we can see why Foster wasn’t happy with McLaughlin.

Speaking on BBC Sportsound, he said: “For the life of me, I have no idea why but McLaughlin takes a goal kick and plays it back [to] Goldson who [tries] to roll a soft ball to Lundstram.”
Foster is right to be annoyed with McLaughlin.
Given that Steven Gerrard decided to play McLaughlin because Allan McGregor had a closer relationship with Walter Smith, you would think he would need to turn in a strong performance, and this was a poor pass [BBC].
Of course, after that moment, the Gers can still deal with the problem, but if McLaughlin doesn’t play that pass, the Dons don’t score their opener; it is as simple as that.
Aberdeen then added another through Scott Brown before the Gers finally got a goal through Alfredo Morelos.

However, they did find an equaliser through James Tavernier, which we can imagine spared McLaughlin’s blushes.
Certainly, you would imagine that McGregor will be back in goal on Sunday against Motherwell, who could only manage a draw.
So, it wasn’t a great night from the Gers’ or McLaughlin’s point of view.
In other Rangers news, Foster also wasn’t too happy with James Tavernier in the first half against Aberdeen.
