Tom English stunned by John Needham-Rangers controversy

Tom English has been left stunned at the Twitter messages of John Needham after his controversial old Rangers abuse emerged this week.

The St Mirren chairman, director at the time of the club, has apologised, insisting that it will never happen again while the investigation continues.

English admitted that it was “crazy” for a man in his position to do that, and believes he should be considering his own job.

Speaking on BBC Sportsound last night, English couldn’t believe that he was even having to talk about the latest controversy.

“I struggle to get my head around it, and I’ve seen a lot of things in Scottish football,” he said. “As we all know it’s a crazy place.

“But for a guy in his position, was a Director at the time to go and allow himself to go into that cesspit. To Tweet this kind of garbage.

“I think John Needham needs to consider his position here.”

Shocking.

How can people such as this be in such powerful positions in Scottish football? It simply can’t be.

Needham will have known these Tweets were bound to surface one day, and his apology just doesn’t seem to cut it.

It is very basic and forms part of every apology ever heard – he is sorry, those aren’t his views and it won’t happen again.

Needham is coming under pressure from inside his own club now, and English may be spot on that he may now have to consider his own future.

Modern football is seeing more of this every single day nearly, where there seems to be historical Tweets being found – it won’t be long until the next and it isn’t good enough.
