Daniel Candeias sends message to Morelos after 100-goal milestone

Alfredo Morelos bagged his 100th goal for Rangers during Sunday’s 2-1 win over St. Mirren, becoming the 35th player in the club’s history to reach the milestone.

The Colombian international, 25, has played 199 games for the Bears since joining from HJK in the summer of 2017, and his goal record is very impressive.

Morelos joined Rangers alongside the likes of Daniel Candeias under the management of Pedro Caixinha, and is one of the two players left at Ibrox from the Portuguese’ underwhelming reign.

Rangers

Candeias, now at Alanyaspor, was proud of the achievement of his former teammate, taking to his Instagram comments section to react.

He wrote: “Bravo, my Buffalo.

“This is within the reach of few. You are very big, but 100 will come but do not forget that I gave you 25. Hug me, brother.”

Top player

On his day, Morelos is one of the deadliest hitmen in the land, and becoming the 10th-fastest player to score a century for Rangers attests to his quality.

He is the only non-British player, aside from South African Johnny Hubbard, to have scored 100 goals for the club, and Falkirk are the only side he has not scored against out of the 17 domestic clubs he has faced.

While he remains guilty of missing chances, there is no denying that his numbers are impressive, and he has ended up writing his name into the club’s folklore.

Rangers

Nobody knows what the future has in store for Morelos, but he is, without any doubt, a Rangers hero already and is an Ibrox favourite.

He has proven the likes of Chris Sutton wrong countless times, and he definitely has what it takes to play for the biggest clubs on the continent, but whether he can fulfil such potential remains to be seen.

In other Rangers news, the Light Blues are desperate to strike deal with country for int’l trio in January.
