Kemar Roofe: Rangers have momentum after 2-1 win v St Mirren takes them top

By Josh Heycock

Kemar Roofe believes Rangers can hit the ground running after coming back from a goal down to beat St. Mirren 2-1 on Sunday.

The reigning champions went three points clear at the top of the Scottish Premier League thanks to a Roofe penalty and Alfredo Morelos’ 100th goal for the club in Paisley.

After an injury-laden season last year, Roofe’s goal could set him up to find the form in a Rangers shirt he’s been searching for since his arrival at the Ibrox.

Kemar Roofe will be one of plenty to depart Ibrox this summer

Talking to Sky Sports after the game on Sky Sports Football, Roofe said: “I got the goal, and we got the win so I can’t complain.

“We’ve always got it (momentum) no matter what the media, or people outside the club say, inside the club we always have momentum and belief.”

Wind in their sails!

Still high from their first league title in nine seasons Rangers have started well this season, but not quite at the pace they ended the last campaign.

Steven Gerrard called before the game for his strikers to score more goals, after a slow start from star-man Morelos, so a goal for both his striker and his winger will put a smile on the boss’ face.

Morelos came into this fixture having only netted three times in nine games this season so scoring his 100th goal today could spark the fire that helped him to 17 goals in all competitions last campaign.

Three points clear at the top of the league and four points clear of Old Firm rivals Celtic is exactly where Rangers will want to be going into the busy Christmas period and a good win against St Mirren will certainly build momentum for the rest of the season.

In other Rangers news, a sour taste has been left in the mouth of fans after this player’s Sky Sports appearance.
