Jermain Defoe appears on Sky Sports during Rangers clash v St Mirren
Rangers slogged out a 2-1 win away at St Mirren on Sunday afternoon while Jermain Defoe was sitting comfortably in a Sky Sports studio down in Manchester.
Steven Gerrard’s men had to come from behind to win in Paisley after Connor Ronan’s wondergoal opened the scoring.
Kemar Roofe’s penalty and Alfredo Morelos’ 100th goal for the club before the half-time whistle put the Light Blues back ahead and, as a result, back to first place in the Scottish Premiership table.

While all of this was happening, Rangers’ player-coach Defoe was at Old Trafford, speaking as a pundit ahead of Manchester United playing against Liverpool later in the day.
Presumably, Defoe’s in the Sky studio to offer his expertise on West Ham and Tottenham playing one another as they are two of his many former clubs – but why was Defoe there?
The former England striker is a paid employee at Ibrox and it’s really not a good look to us fans to see him working as a pundit, possibly looking ahead to his post-playing career, rather than being at St Mirren.
Defoe is a member of this squad and is someone with a wealth of experience.
Is it not better to have him travelling around with the squad rather than being allowed to work for Sky on their Premier League coverage in England?
Some fans on Twitter were understandably furious:
Why is Defoe at Rangers if this is the case?
Whether you think it’s acceptable for him to be with Sky or not, it’s really not a good look.
In other Rangers news, Simon Jordan has talked down speculation with “noise” surrounding this Ibrox man.
