Billy Dodds slams Rangers man John McLaughlin

Former Scotland striker Billy Dodds has slammed Rangers man Jon McLaughlin at half-time against St Mirren.

The BBC pundit criticised McLaughlin’s role in the goal that handed St Mirren the lead.

Dodds said: “What a goal! He gets the better of Lundstram. A right boot strike and Jon Mclaughlin is floundering; he can’t get anywhere near it.”

Dodds was unhappy with McLaughlin.

Steven Gerrard decided to replace Allan McGregor with the former Sunderland goalkeeper, and it doesn’t seem as if he has done anything to impress Dodds so far.

It was a fantastic strike by Ronan, and you have to credit the player, but you also have to ask questions about the goalkeeper.

The shot was past him before he had even realised what had happened, and you could argue that he should have at least got closer to making a save.

Either way, this is the goal that separates the two sides at the break, and the Gers haven’t been good enough.

Gerrard only made one change from the side that beat Brondby 2-0 on Thursday, and the away side do look tired so far.

Hopefully, they improve in the second half because, in truth, things can’t get much worse from the Bears, who have been second-best all over the pitch in all areas.

In other Rangers news, Derek McInnes thinks that Gerrard is happy to be linked with the Newcastle job.
