Tony Jones: Alfredo Morelos disappointed at Rangers substitution

Rangers ace Alfredo Morelos was sulking after being substituted in the second half of the win against Brondby on Thursday night, claims Tony Jones.

Gers won the game 2-0 and already held a two-goal cushion over their opponents when Steven Gerrard decided to bring Morelos off in the 71st minute.

While the Colombian took it in his stride at the time, the camera panned to him a few minutes after and he appeared disgruntled at not being allowed to stay on the pitch.

Speaking on the UEFA world feed, Sky Sports’ Jones, said, “Morelos not too happy. Seems to be quite visible disappointed that he was not given the chance to score his 100th goal.”

Sulking won’t help

Morelos is a player who can grab a goal despite having a quiet game, but on Thursday night, the contest was already in the bag.

With key domestic and European fixtures coming up, it did not make sense for Gerrard to leave him on.

It’s not even like Morelos was on his hat-trick and was threatening the goal every five minutes.

He will get his 100th goal eventually, but he’s certainly got to improve his attitude and performance.

This kind of reaction will not take him anywhere and it’s making him a shadow of the player we know him to be.

We don’t think dropping him is the right way to go about it, but Gerrard must have a serious talk with him about his future.

Rangers cannot afford to carry a player off the ball, especially one who doesn’t seem to be enjoying what he’s doing.
