Ryan Taylor: I would love Steven Gerrard to take Newcastle job

Former Newcastle defender Ryan Taylor has urged his old club to appoint Rangers man Steven Gerrard as their new boss.

The Northern Echo reported this week that Gerrard was interested in leaving Ibrox to take over at the newly billionaire owned club.

Taylor admitted that it would be a “huge” step for the Gers boss to take in his career, but he has been playing some brilliant football.

Speaking on Sky Sports this afternoon, Taylor made the “unbelievable” claim on the future of the Bears boss.

“I would love to see someone like Steven Gerrard in charge of Newcastle,” he said. “It’s so passionate up there.

“Someone like Steven Gerrard, because he plays football the right way, he knows who good players are, and I think he’s done an unbelievable job at Rangers.

“It’s such a huge step for him with what the club have planned for the future.”

Rangers

No chance.

Gerrard couldn’t have been more clear that he is as professional as ever at Ibrox, and will be just planning for the next game.

With the Champions League a possibility next season, surely everyone around the club will want to give that a real go.

The likes of Gerrard and Conor Goldson have been linked with exits all season, and this Newcastle talk doesn’t appear to be disappearing.

Who wouldn’t want our gaffer, though?

Gerrard has delivered the good times back to Ibrox, and this talk is going to follow him every single time a job becomes available in the Premier League.

In other Rangers news, the Bears are set to seal a major signing with one player agreement almost certain in January
