Chris Sutton attacks Alfredo Morelos in Rangers win v Brondby, Ally McCoist responds

Chris Sutton has blasted Rangers attacker Alfredo Morelos for his current form and performance against Brondby.

The Colombian was questioned by Steven Gerrard this week and was dragged off early at Ibrox last night.

Ally McCoist has reacted to Sutton and believes that Morelos is carrying too much “timber” at the start of this season.

Speaking on BT Sports’ Scottish Football Extra via Twitter, Sutton took aim at the Bufalo after what he heard this week.

“I don’t know what the hell is going on with Morelos,” he said. “I know Steven Gerrard called him out earlier this week and spoke about his goal record not being good enough.

“He normally doesn’t do things like that, so he’s done that for a reason.

McCoist responded, and admitted that something isn’t right with the Colombian after his record this season.

“He still looks a little bit heavy for me. He looks as though he’s wearing my old shorts. He doesn’t look as though he’s 100% fit, he’s carrying a little bit of timber.

Timber?

Well, we can’t disagree with this claim and Morelos isn’t in the best of form.

The Colombian has struggled to find the back of the net consistently this season, and that is similar to the rest of the squad.

When Morelos has been admitting to the press recently that he has achieved what he can at Ibrox and sees his future elsewhere.

Normally, criticism could be classed as harsh, but when you are speaking out like that, you have to be doing the business on the pitch and Morelos isn’t doing that.

Gerrard may need to make another statement sooner rather than later, and maybe that could be Morelos starting on the bench.
