Clinton Morrison & Lee Hendrie pose Rangers-Steven Gerrard question on Sky Sports

Clinton Morrison has urged Newcastle to hand Rangers boss Steven Gerrard their vacant post at St James’ Park.

In a heated debate live on Sky Sports this evening, Morrison insisted that the former Liverpool man is the perfect choice.

Lee Hendrie hit back at those claims and suggested that Gerrard would be a “fool” and “stupid” to leave Ibrox for the North East of England.

Speaking live on Sky Sports this evening, Morrison kickstarted the debate by suggesting that Gerrard would be the one he would target.

“I think Stevie G would be a good fit,” he said. “Rangers fans don’t shout at me, he’s a young manager improving and done a fantastic job there.”

Hendrie hit back at those claims and believes that Morrison couldn’t be further away from what will happen.

“He would be a fool to take that, he would be stupid to do that,” he said. “He goes and wins the league again, his credentials are higher and higher.”

Fool.

Now isn’t the right time to leave Rangers, especially for a project as fragile as Newcastle would be right now.

The Magpies are currently still in relegation contention in the Premier League and have a poor squad that won’t be fixed in January.

Should Gerrard leave and it all goes wrong, he could waste his chances at eventually taking over at his dream club, which we all know is Liverpool.

Hendrie was backed by Danny Mills, who also agreed that he would be stupid to leave Ibrox at this stage of his managerial career.

Winning the Scottish Premiership again would gain us automatic qualification to the Champions League – surely he wants a shot at that with the Bears.

In other Rangers news, the Bears are set to seal a major signing with one player agreement almost certain in January
