Brian Laudrup shares what he told Steven Gerrard after Rangers draw with Hearts

Brian Laudrup has shared what he told Steven Gerrard after Rangers conceded late to draw with Hearts over the weekend.

The Bears failed to extend their one-goal lead at Ibrox after John Lundstram fired in the opener, and were made to pay at the very end of the clash.

Laudrup was back at Ibrox watching the action, and reminded Gerrard that the Bears were still top of the table despite the disappointment.

Writing in his Daily Mail column, Laudrup insisted that his comments to the boss brought out a little smile despite the result.

“Steven Gerrard reflected some of that when I met him after the match,” he wrote. “I had the opportunity to go downstairs and speak to him for the first time, which I really appreciated.

“He was great, if, obviously, a little frustrated at losing two points. I reminded him they were still top of the league and he smiled a little.

“But he also made it clear that Thursday night against Brondby — the club where I started my career — was going to be a massive game for his side.”

Rangers

Desperate.

Gerrard and his squad are crying out for a huge win with numerous goals, something that they will be eyeing in the Europa League.

After losing our opening two games, three points against Brondby is simply a must, and defeat could almost spell an end to our European journey already this season.

Having said that, picking up three points and scoring a handful of goals will be the perfect motivator for the Bears, who desperately need it.

Goals are at a premium right now despite sitting top of the pile in the Scottish Premiership, and the sooner we get the likes of Alfredo Morelos firing consistently, the better.

Laudrup brought a slight smile out of Gerrard, but nothing could compare to the smile he would have with a huge win over Brondby on Thursday.
