Michael Smith wants Rangers revenge

Hearts defender Michael Smith is targeting revenge against Rangers today after he had a nightmare in 2018.

At the beginning of the 2018/19 season, the Edinburgh-based club arrived at Ibrox in a similar position to where they are this season, but they were blown away by the Gers, who won 3-1.

Smith was sent off with his side already 3-0 down, but it seems as if he is out for revenge today.

Speaking to the Daily Record, he said: “I’ve had plenty of tough times through in Glasgow.

“That day I got sent off? Some of my mates back home are all Rangers fans, and there were a few of them there that day – they’ll never let me forget that one.

“I’ll put it down to a bad day at the office. You go there, and the first 10 minutes is always frantic, and the crowd is always on you.

“But you get through that, and the game settles down, and you’ve got to play your football and take chances.”

Fighting talk from Smith.

This is a big day for both the Gers and Hearts, and it is clear that Smith wants revenge for that game in 2018.

Now, if the Bears managed to pull off a similar result to that one, then that would be another statement of intent from Steven Gerrard’s men.

It is clear from the way that Smith is talking that Robbie Neilson’s men are confident and feel like they can win, so you would think it could be quite an open match with both teams going for it.

Now, this could suit the Gers, who are most used to teams sitting in and trying to hit them on the counter.

So, it should be an intriguing game, and it is good to hear that Smith is confident about getting a result.

We could look back at this day as a significant one in the title race at the end of the season, so it is so important that the Bers get the win to blow away yet another so-called title challenger.
