Kemar Roofe blames Rangers players for 1-1 draw vs Hearts

Rangers have been left looking precariously over their shoulder after Hearts snatched a late goal in a 1-1 draw at Ibrox on Saturday.

John Lundstram had put his side ahead five minutes from half-time, but Craig Halkett found the back of the net for the visitors at the death, ensuring the visitors maintained the one-point gap between them and the Premiership leaders.

Celtic are just four points behind Rangers after they won 2-0 at Motherwell, and Steven Gerrard’s men have to improve significantly at both ends of the pitch.

Kemar Roofe is hoping the draw can help inspire his side as Europa League action resumes on Thursday, but he made it clear that he and his teammates are to blame for the Hearts result.

The Rangers striker posted on his personal Instagram account: “Only ourselves to blame today, but it’s fuel for Thursday”

Absolutely

Rangers attempted 27 shots, with 10 hitting the target, but that yielded just a goal, and Hearts deserved their point after a resolute performance.

The Bears had their best opening to a game this season, playing with purpose, combining quickly and forcing the visitors into plenty of mistakes, but they were unable to keep up the momentum in the second-half.

Roofe struck the bar, while Alfredo Morelos just could not find where the back of the net was all game.

Rangers

The Rangers players have themselves to blame, and they know things have to change given how inconsistent they have been this term.

They host Brondby IF on Thursday and will need to win having lost their opening two games in Group A.

The Ibrox giants are the only ones without a point in the group, and that must change if they want to have any chance of playing European football after Christmas.
