Jordan Campbell: Rangers fans loved team’s first-half performance v Hearts

Rangers are looking to resume Premiership action with a victory over Hearts following the international break, and they impressed half-time.

John Lundstram put the hosts ahead five minutes from the break with a great strike, and Steven Gerrard would have been pleased to see his side grab a deserved lead heading into the break.

The Ibrox crowd loved what they saw from the Rangers players, and according to The Athletic journalist Jordan Campbell, they made it known at half-time by their reaction.

Rangers

He posted on his personal Twitter account: “The ringing endorsement from the Ibrox crowd at half-time is testament to what was Rangers’ best opening to a game this season.

“Best atmosphere too.

“Played with purpose, combining quickly and forcing Hearts into mistakes.

Huge

Rangers needed to show Hearts who the boss is, and dominating the top-of-the-table clash was the perfect way to do that.

The defending champions dominated from start to finish, and they will fancy their chances of at least doubling their lead at full-time.

Rangers registered 13 shots compared to Hearts’ zero, and seven of them found the target.

The first-half result meant the Bears are four points clear of the closest rivals at the top of the Premiership table, and should it remain the same at full-time, the victory will come as a much-needed boost.

Rangers

It is too early to tag Rangers title winners, but if they continue at this rate,  they could wrap things up as early as possible before May.

They remain the team to beat, and with Celtic not looking like they are in the contention for the top prize, victories against Hibs and Hearts will send the perfect message to others.
