Sky Sports duo blown away by Rangers star Glen Kamara in Finland clash v Kazakhstan
Rangers star Glen Kamara thrilled Sky Sports commentators with some silky movement during the first half of Finland’s clash with Kazakhstan on Tuesday.
Kamara, 25, started for his nation in their vital World Cup qualifier at the Astana Arena, with Finland requiring victory to keep any realistic hopes alive of making it to Qatar in 2022.
They were dominant during the opening period on Tuesday afternoon and held the lead going into half-time thanks to an exquisite Teemu Pukki goal, but Gers midfielder Kamara also impressed with some elegant play of his own.
Sky Sports [12/10/21] commentator Gary Taphouse was suitably impressed by one moment in the first half during live coverage of the clash.
“Here’s Kamara, delightful drop of the shoulder,” Taphouse said after the Arsenal academy graduate beat his opponent near the Kazakhstan penalty area.
“He’s the one who’s impressed me so far,” Don Goodman said. “He’s been the best so far for Finland.”
Kamara had his name up in lights at the recent European Championship as he was a star performer for Finland at their first major tournament.
They failed to progress from their group but turned in a spirited showing, beating Denmark during their opening game.
Kamara was a constant source of energy in defence and composure when on the ball, performances which surely caught the eye of some elite sides in Europe.
However, he opted to stay at Rangers and recently signed a new contract to extend his stay at Ibrox.
He will now hope to lead Finland to their second major tournament next year, though the odds appear stacked against them with tough ties against Bosnia and France to follow in November.
In other Rangers news, Jim White has delivered a significant claim on this Ibrox hero as exit mooted.
