Simon Brotherton: Ianis Hagi finish v Germany was ‘excellent’
Simon Brotherton nearly threw out every superlative in his book to describe Rangers ace Ianis’ Hagi’s finish on Friday night.
Romania ended up losing the game 2-1, but will certainly take away plenty of positives from it, including Hagi’s stunning individual effort.
The Rangers midfielder carried the ball from a little ahead of the halfway line, took on a few Germany players, including a classic nutmeg of one of Europe’s in-form centre-backs in Antonio Rudiger.

Commentating on the world feed, Brotherton, a BBC man, said, “Great run by Hagi… Oh, what a goal. Fantastic play by Ianis Hagi for Romania.
“Brilliance from Hagi. A famous name in Romanian football history and that will go down as a famous goal.
“Great individual quality. Hagi did this all by himself. Excellent finish.”
Sensational play
Hagi made the Germany players look like amateurs, given how easily he cut past their defence.
Rudiger, who’s been in the form of his life under Thomas Tuchel, was sent back to school by Hagi’s brilliance.

He does not care about reputations, only about how he can help win games for his side and he did all he could to help out.
We’ve watched this goal on repeat since we saw it live and still cannot get enough.
The international breaks do get boring, but moments like these make the absence of club football all that more bearable.
Hopefully, he provides moments like these in front of a packed Ibrox crowd because the volume in there will be off the charts.
