Rob Palmer and Davie Provan stunned by Ianis Hagi in Romania loss v Germany
Davie Provan and Rob Palmer were left stunned by Rangers star Ianis Hagi on Friday despite Romania crashing to defeat in Germany.
The Bears playmaker gave his side the lead in Hamburg, twisting and weaving through the defence before slamming home.
It obviously drew immediate comparisons to his father, Georghe, as Rangers fans around the globe united in celebrations.
Speaking during Sky Sports commentary of the clash last night, Palmer was left wowed by the Romanian’s strike.
“Look at that – Hagi,” he said. “Young Hagi does what his dad used to do.
“He’s stunned the Germans. Romania counter-attack and stun Germany in the city of Hamburg.”
Provan couldn’t believe his eyes that the young Ibrox star managed to work his magic by weaving through the defence.
“I tell you what,” he said. “He’s got so much to do because Germany get back, they try to crowd him out, they’re aware he’s got a great left foot.
No one would have thought that Hagi would have been able to go on and score from the position that he picked up the ball in.
Between him was Chelsea enforcer Antoni Rudiger, who has been the standout name in the Champions League and Premier League in the past year.
Well, everyone except us Rangers and Romania fans didn’t expect it as it was no surprise to see Hagi work his magic on the biggest stage of them all yet again.
Steven Gerrard has instilled this fearless nature into his game and it has seen him thrive in the biggest European games in recent years, and he has done it again.
This is only good news for the Light Blues, who are going to be getting a Hagi full of confidence upon his return next week.
