Steven Gerrard intrigued by the Newcastle United takeover

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard is apparently “intrigued” by the completed takeover of Newcastle United.

The Daily Mail report that this is likely his last season at Ibrox and that this new takeover of the Toon has fascinated him.

Newcastle are now the richest club in the Premier League, and it seems as if Gerrard might fancy being the manager to lead their new era [Independent].

Will Gerrard stay or go?

Considering the consortium have only just completed their takeover of Newcastle, you would think it is a bit early to be thinking about a managerial change.

However, you would have to say that it isn’t surprising to hear that Gerrard is interested; who wouldn’t be after what has just happened at St James’ Park?

The most worrying thing is that this is apparently going to be the 41-year-old’s final season at Ibrox no matter what.

It feels as if Gerrard is building a legacy at Ibrox, and to hear that this could be his last season at the club concerns us.

You would hope that another league title and one of the other domestic trophies might persuade him to stay and continue building what he has started.

It will be interesting to see if Newcastle do sound Gerrard out as a potential option, but we aren’t really too worried about that. We are more concerned with the suggestion that this could be his last season at Ibrox.
