Rangers man Jermain Defoe is set to stay at the club

Rangers striker Jermain Defoe is set to stay at Ibrox beyond the expiration of his contract in 2022, according to the Scottish Sun.

They claim that the former Tottenham Hotspur striker is likely to be with the club for a long time or for as long as Steven Gerrard is there.

The 39-year-old is very likely to take on a full-time coaching role in Glasgow once his playing contract comes to an end.

Good news for the Gers.

Defoe has bags and bags of experience and knows what it takes to reach the top of the game.

He has been a good addition to the playing squad in his time with the Bears and has scored 32 goals in just 73 appearances.

However, he is near the end of his career now, but it doesn’t look like he will be going anywhere.

We think that this is good news because Defoe is a top professional and would be an ideal role model for all players, both young and old.

To have someone like that still involved with the club would be an incredible boost for the Gers, and it seems as if he will be there for as long as Gerrard is, which is fantastic.

Alfredo Morelos and Kemar Roofe are the main men at Ibrox for goals, and there are no doubts that they will be learning something new all the time from the former England international.

You need people like Defoe in successful clubs and keeping him even when he has stopped playing is big news for the Bears.

In other Rangers news, one Gers man was forced to make a huge journey this week.
