Marcel Raducanu: German FA demand dossier on Ianis Hagi ahead of Romania clash
The German FA have demanded a dossier on Rangers attacker Ianis Hagi ahead of their clash with Romania, according to Marcel Raducanu.
Both teams play in a World Cup qualifiers on Friday, and the European heavyweights were keen to get the lowdown on the 22-year-old following his recent links with Jose Mourinho’s Roma.
Germany chiefs got in touch with Romanian icon and former Borussia Dortmund star Raducanu for help in a bid to know what to expect when their side come up against the Light Blues ace.
Raducanu said (via The Scottish Sun): “They called me from the German Federation to ask me about some of our players. They asked me about the match.
“One of the four players they wanted information about was Ianis Hagi. They wanted to know if it was true that Jose Mourinho wants him at Roma. I told them I hope it is true
“He’s a very important player for Rangers and Steven Gerrard appreciates him very much and cares about him. He needs to do well there to prove that he can play for an important team in England or Italy.
Germany are one of the best teams in the world given the wealth of top players they boast of, but they never hesitate to do their thorough homework on their opponents.
They know what Hagi is capable of, and while it is unknown whether Mourinho wants him or not, being linked with such a manager speaks volumes, and it appears a lot of people have taken note.
The Rangers star have struggled to hit top form this term due to injuries and a Covid-19 infection, but he will be eager to prove his quality against a star-studded German team, and scouts will definitely be watching to see what he can do against top opposition.
Hagi has two goals and two assists in 10 appearances in 2021-22 after ending last term with eight goals and 15 assists in 45 games for the Ibrox.
He definitely has the quality to play for a Champions League team and one of Europe’s bigwigs, but he needs to prove that with the Bears, and the Premiership giants will be hoping to get top dollar for his signature once the time comes for him to move on.
In other Rangers news, SPFL duo are under pressure to ban Bears fans after major development.
