Manchester United eyeing move for Nathan Patterson

Manchester United are eyeing a January move for Rangers right-back Nathan Patterson as they look to strengthen at the back, according to 90min.

Everton were keen on signing the 19-year-old Scotland international in the summer, and they have now been joined by the Red Devils, while more than a dozen teams across Europe have shown an interest.

Man Utd looked at bringing James Tavernier to Old Trafford in the summer, and while he remains a possibility, they are currently focusing attention on Patterson ahead of a potential move in the winter transfer window.

More suitors

At least 14 teams are currently keeping tabs on the Rangers full-back, and that makes it increasingly difficult to hold on to him going forward.

Steven Gerrard handed him his first Scottish Premiership appearance of the season during Sunday’s 2-1 victory over Hibernian, and he impressed, supplying the assist for Kemar Roofe’s equaliser.

Patterson will need to play more regularly if the Bears are to convince him to stay at Ibrox, but his future likely belongs elsewhere given his massive potential and talents.

20-time Premier League winners Man Utd are one of the biggest teams in the world, and linking up with such a team and playing alongside Cristiano Ronaldo would be very tempting to anyone.

Should they make a firm move for Patterson in January, holding on to him could prove impossible for Rangers, especially if they table a juicy offer.

Playing in the Champions League and one of the best leagues on the planet is undoubtedly attractive, and Patterson could be very keen on moving on if the Red Devils come calling.
