Cammy Devlin believes Hearts can win the title ahead of Rangers

Hearts star Cammy Devlin believes that the Edinburgh-based side can win the SPFL this season ahead of Rangers.

Devlin’s side travel to Ibrox after the international break to play the Gers, with Robbie Neilson’s side sitting in second place after a strong start to the season.

The Australia Under-23 international believes that Hearts can cause an upset this season and win the league.

Speaking to the Daily Record, he said: “We’ll try to be dominant and obviously try to win. It’ll be tough. They’ll have a lot of fans; there’s no shying away from that.

“But we go there with full confidence. That’ll be the biggest crowd I’ve played in front of.

“Tynecastle is the loudest, just the way the stadium is built. It’s something I’ve never experienced, and I’m lapping it up.

“I know the fans at Ibrox will be against me, but I’ll love that.

“I’ve done my research, and everyone knows about Celtic and Rangers. But when people ask if we can win the league, I would say, ‘Why not?'”

A bold claim from Devlin.

The SPFL seems to be a much more open title race this season, with Rangers sitting at the top by just a point.

Then there are just six points separating first to sixth, so you can see why Devlin believes his side have a chance of winning the league.

In fact, you have to admire the confidence, and ultimately, a closer title race and a better SPFL will lead to a better Rangers.

So this might not be a bad thing that Devlin believes Hearts can win the league, and it should be a fascinating clash at Ibrox.

However, it is just a shame that we have an international break now when all we really want to see is more of this thrilling title race.

Hearts have had a strong start to the season, and this should be a seriously tough test for Steven Gerrard’s side.

In other Rangers news, the club have been sent a warning by a journalist about Gerrard.
