Ally McCoist and Derek McInnes to work on Rangers game from Celtic Park
Ally McCoist and Derek McInnes will be working for BT Sport from Celtic Park on Thursday night as they cover Rangers’ clash against Sparta Prague in the Europa League, according to the Daily Record.
Two weeks ago, the Gers stopped Chris Sutton and Neil Lennon from entering Ibrox to cover Celtic’s Europa League defeat at Real Betis due to an alleged security issue.
Celtic have not done the same to two former Gers players, with McCoist and McInnes set to be welcomed to Parkhead to work for BT Sport as Rangers play away in the Czech Republic before the Hoops play Bayer Leverkusen.
We’re being shown up
Celtic could have thought, ‘well if Rangers want to go down that route, we can do the same’.
They haven’t done that though and, as usual, BT Sport’s team of pundits will be welcomed to Celtic Park without any security issues or whatever ulterior motives could have been at play.
Ex-Celtic players, ex-Celtic managers, current Celtic players and current Celtic managers have all been in attendance at Ibrox over the years and there’s never been an alleged security issue with that until now.
However, the Gers have been on a rampage against those who criticise them in the media.
We’ve already seen in this season with charging companies for media access and welcoming Rangers fans into their press conferences.
It’s the club trying to stop the bad press that’s said about them. It’s the club saying, ‘don’t you dare say that or you won’t be welcome here again’.
Criticism should be allowed and accepted.
In other Rangers news, Livingston have cancelled an event at the Tony Macaroni amid concerns from Gers fans.
