Michael Owen predicts Rangers clash v Sparta Prague
Michael Owen has backed Rangers to draw their Europa League clash against Sparta Prague on Thursday evening.
The former Liverpool man has predicted that Steven Gerrard will guide his men to a 1-1 draw on the road.
The Bears will be desperate for three points after their convincing defeat against Lyon on the opening matchday.
Writing in his Bet Victor predictions column, Owen believes it will be a close clash in the Czech Republic.
“Steven Gerrard’s Rangers are yet to hit their best form this season but are still dominating domestically,” he wrote.
“They played well in spells against Lyon at Ibrox in their first game but need to take their chances when they come.
“They’ve made the last 16 in the last two seasons under Gerrard though, so I fancy them to get a draw in Prague.”
If this was the opening matchday of the Europa League, it would be hard to turn down this result away from home.
Having said that, Gerrard will likely be pushing his side for a big win, but the main message may be, do not lose.
Lyon are likely going to beat Brondby, so the second spot will be up for grabs between the Danish side and us two.
Three points here would hand us the upperhand massively, and it is up to the Gers to go out and make the first move.
Something hasn’t clicked at the moment within this squad, and Thursday evening would be the perfect time for that to happen.
