James McPake has revealed that Bobby Madden mocked him over Rangers penalty incident
Dundee FC manager James McPake has revealed that Bobby Madden mocked him over the Rangers penalty incident.
The Gers were leading 1-0 when John McLaughlin took out Paul McMullan in the box and was handed a yellow card instead of a red.
The former Sunderland goalkeeper then denied Jason Cummings and the Bears won 1-0, which infuriated McPake, and he was sent off after the final whistle [Daily Record].
Speaking in his post-match press conference, the Dundee manager said: “He said, ‘I’ll not speak to you about it, and that he can’t talk about an incident’.
“Then you get the ‘you missed the penalty anyway’ shout, which; we know that. I was standing there; I watched it.”
Odd from the referee.
Ultimately, it was a great save by McLaughlin, and he deserves huge credit for producing when it mattered.
We also believe that the goalkeeper did make a genuine attempt for the ball, and the yellow card was the right decision [BBC Sportscene].
However, to mock McPake after the game is very strange, and it is no wonder the Dundee boss lost it.
However, this was a good win for the Gers, who were pushed all the way at Dens Park but can take positives from the fact they kept a clean sheet, which they have struggled to do this season.
This certainly wasn’t a vintage display from the Bears, but they are finding ways to win games, and that is important.
Once more, they have put pressure on their title rivals, and it will be intriguing to see how they respond.
In other Rangers news, Chris Iwelumo was left stunned by one Gers man.
