Chris Iwelumo stunned by Joe Aribo for Rangers v Dundee

Chris Iwelumo was stunned by Rangers playmaker Joe Aribo in the 1-0 win over Dundee on Saturday afternoon.

The Nigerian international opened the scoring just before half-time at Dens Park after great work from Alfredo Morelos.

Iwelumo singled out the touch and finish from Aribo as he brought down a flick over the top and curled home the winner perfectly.

Speaking during BBC Sportscene last night, Iwelumo blasted the defence but showered praise on the playmaker.

“It leaves Aribo over the top,” he said.

“It’s a fantastic touch if you look at that. It’s a great touch and finish from Aribo there.”

Fantastic.

In a game that was not particularly filled with class, this was one moment that stood out from the rest at Dens Park.

From Morelos’ flick to Aribo’s touch and finish, it was a goal that deserved to win any game for the Bears this season.

Steven Gerrard won’t have been happy with the display one little bit, but the fact that we can come up with one moment of magic such as that shows that it is coming.

Sitting top of the pile in the Scottish Premiership despite not putting together one total pleasing performance yet is a big warning to the rest of the league.

Once it clicks and goals like this are flowing regularly once again, that is when everybody else is in real trouble.

Morelos and Aribo combined yesterday, but add the likes of Kemar Roofe and James Tavernier to that mix and there will be a lot more where that came from in the final third.

We already can’t wait for more.
